If you can't get over Star Wars, make R2-D2 everyday companion as Verizon launches limited units of their R2-D2 Droid 2 phone. Hurry up! Only 10 selected stores will be guarded by stormtroopers on the 30th.

On September 30, Verizon will unleash a special Star Wars edition for Droid 2. The special Droid 2 version is designed to look like the trusty droid – R2-D2 – and will come in limited edition. According to the New Jersey-based carrier, all 50,000 units of R2-D2 phone features Star Wars content and special-themed docking station.

Akin to the Droid 2, the R2-D2 phone has a 3.7-inch touch screen display and a 5.0 megapixel camera with DVD-quality video recording. It also includes a high-speed EV-DO Technology, and a pinch-to-zoom Web browsing with Flash 10.1 support.

Consumers can purchase the phone online and in 10 selected retailers, where Verizon will throw a launch party that will start at 9:30 pm on the 29th. The attendees can also buy up to two special edition phones starting midnight on participating stores.

No pricing for the R2-D2 phone has been announced by the carrier yet.
