Google's outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt promises he will not be out of the picture yet even when he steps down to pass the torch to Larry Page. What are his thoughts on Facebook, Apple and the future of information and technology?

Do you really think he’ll just lie around in a comfy mansion living the good life after his triumphs in Google? Not a chance in hell. Google’s outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt promises that he’ll still be around even after stepping down from the pinnacle of the world’s most visited website. He also shares a couple more things about the future of information and technology, along with some insights on their so-called perennial rivals, Facebook and Apple, in an interview over at the World Economic Forum in Davos that will open your eyes and see what will happen in the next 50 years.

Google’s, yes THE Google, CEO Eric Schmidt has formally announced that he is going to step down from the proverbial ladder of Google-topia as he leaves co-founder Larry Page to become the next head honcho of the one of the world’s most successful companies for the past decade. It’s really a mystery why Eric Schmidt would leave Google despite a stellar performance that left analysts dumbfounded last 2010. But it seems it’s more of a personal choice rather than a performance issue.

Schmidt Says Android Sales Reach 200,000 Daily

Sales-wise, lagging behind Blackberry OS and the iOS is lately becoming less of a norm to Android. The Google OS just reached phenomenal status in Q2 2010, all right.

Bumping the unbeatable Blackberry in the year’s second quarter, Android is now reveling in its high-water revenue percentage. Even Google CEO Eric Schmidt is. In a 40-minute interview last Wednesday, Schmidt estimated a 200,000-sale of Android devices everyday.

Android is even making more money than the iOS, according to an earlier report this week. If this growth rate is not phenomenal, then it can only be incredibly phenomenal. At least that is how the search giant’s chief puts it. And even if Google does not directly benefit from Android’s revenues, Schmidt is looking at the side of possibility and sees only a brighter light. He is loving the success of the OS because it means more people have mobile where they can make more searches. And that is how Google gets paid anyway…however indirectly.
