Google Says Goodbye to the QR Codes

Rest in peace, QR codes. Long live the NFC Technology!

We hardly ever used them, but QR codes are out of the picture in Google’s books, as the company removes the Quick Read matrix bar codes from the Google Places Dashboard.

“Users will no longer find unique QR codes in their Places accounts. We’re exploring new ways to enable customers to quickly and easily find information about local businesses from their mobile phones.”

So what’s going to replace the QR codes?

Google Brings Check Ins for Google Latitude and 30 Languages for Google Places to iPhone

Google sends more love to the iOS with updates for Google Latitude and Google Places.

Showing more love to the Apple market, Google has released updates for their two iOS apps: the Google Latitude and Google Places. Google Latitude seems to be pulling a Foursquare as Google applies ‘check ins.’ Google Places on the other hand will now be in 30 languages, giving a more personal experience to non-American iPhone users.
