From Froyo to Gingerbread. HTC Incredible S gets the Android 2.3 treatment. Desire HD, Desire Z and Desire extend lifespan with same update.
The Gingerbread is coming, the Gingerbread is coming! HTC, one of Apple’s fiercest competition in the smartphone category, just brought out the big guns to their aging phones as they unveiled that their resilient Desire line-up, the Desire HD, Desire Z and the Desire, along with the new Incredible S will get the Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread update by the end of Q2 of 2011.
We’re switching from one dessert to another folks as the HTC phones move from Froyo to Gingerbread. Yes, looks like HTC still has some love for their Desire series, especially the original Desire, despite the onslaught of new smartphones storming their way month after month. If it’s one thing we learned from leaked pictures, is that they’re real. This phenomena occurred with the Sony Xperia Phone aka PlayStation Phone, and now we’re guessing the same thing will happen here with the leaked picture of the HTC Desire 2.

Nexus One are surely dumped with HTC Desire HD's first benchmarks. It's whooping faster and offers double the frame-rate, plus it has an enhanced performance!
HTC Desire HD’s first benchmarks are in! The ROM was dumped and it is already running on a HTC HD2 with the most recent Sense UI. The HTC Desire HD is powered by Qualcomm QSD8255 processor and Adreno 205 GPU, providing an enhanced performance. It is 30 percent more agile than the Nexus One and caters twice the frame-rate. Though it is far from ready for mass consumption, the Desire HD ROM will enable the newfangled changes HTC made for their custom Android UI and is expected to hit glasses next month.

The US Cellular has announced that HTC Desire will join the smartphone line-up. For those who didn’t know, the handset is the second Android phone to cross our way on the carrier. And certainly one of the 5 Android Smartphone that the company will add this 2010.
The Desire specs include a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. The device carries an Android 2.1 but there are speculations that it will carry an Android 2.2 upon release. All we know is that it will certainly be an Android baby and the upgrades will come handy.
The carrier hasn’t said anything about the price, but it will be release in August allegedly and falls somewhere between $99 to $199 with a contract.View Article Source »
