The large displays of surface computers were once introduced by Microsoft. However, multi-user collaboration can't be done over the Internet. But today, Hugin has come to the rescue.

Researchers from Purdue and the University of Manitoba have developed a software named Hugin. Hugin enables users to use large touch displays for complex dataset analysis. The datasets can be scrutinized interactively over the Internet for business and homeland security applications. In order for it to be effective, Hugin was designed to support all levels of information access via layered architecture. It assigns a territorial workspace for users, so that they can keep particular items private. Hugin is viewed to aid defense and stock market analysts and professionals that responds to emergency and disasters.

For more information about Hugin, a video demo is posted after the jump.
