It was not long ago when a particular parent raged about her credit card bill thanks to unconsented in-app downloads by her children for games. Is this the iPad 2 we've all been waiting for?
We can almost smell the iPad 2 around the corner as Apple makes its big reveal today, but Chinese website DGtle certainly didn’t bother waiting any longer as they reveal pictures of an iPad 2 mock-up that looks too real to be fake. Assuming that it’s not fake, it seems the iPad 2 is going to be thinner with a little more flattened back compared to its predecessor. It will also wield two cameras (front and rear) and reportedly a white 3G antenna at the back. The mock-up is reported to have been used for case makers. We can only confirm if it is the iPad 2 and not just a placeholder when we lay our eyes on the device at Apple event.Read the rest of the article »

"A source familiar with Apple's graphics strategy says the company will not only be upgrading its video core, but also going to multiple cores..."---AppleInsider
We’ve heard rumors that the iPad 2 will be sporting a 2048×1536 high resolution screen, but one big question has somehow emerged. The question is related to the GPU or graphics processing unit that will power up such high resolution. AppleInsider, a site dedicated to report rumors about the Apple products, claims that iPad 2 and probably iPhone 5 will be using a dual-core SGX543 GPU from Imagination Technologies.
As AppleInsider puts it:
“A source familiar with Apple’s graphics strategy says the company will not only be upgrading its video core, but also going to multiple cores, a feature that is designed into the SGX543 design. The most likely configuration of Apple’s next custom chip is reportedly the SGX543MP2, which pairs two SGX543 cores to work as one, offering around four times the capability of the previous A4 in graphics and video tasks.”Read the rest of the article »
"I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras." ---Kevin Rose
Kevin Rose, one of the industry’s prominent blogger, claimed today that iPad 2 will be landing in “3-4 weeks” and will feature a Retina Display in addition to dual cameras.
“I have it on good authority that Apple will be announcing the iPad 2 in the next “3-4 weeks”, possibly Tuesday February 1st. The iPad 2 will feature a retina display and front/back cameras.”
Apple doing a double on pixels of the iPad would make the iPad 2 screen bigger. The previous pixel count is 1024 x 768; now it is 2048 x 1536, quite a big push. The resolution seems to be a bit too high for a 9.7 inch display.
Update: Rose updated his blog post to say it’s not a Retina Display but instead is higher resolution screen with more dots per inch (DPI).View Article Source »
