Sony PlayStation 3 Receives $50 Price Drop Worldwide

Sony just unveiled a global price cut for its PlayStation 3 models.

Sony officially announced that its PlayStation 3 gaming console just had a $50 price cut in all major countries. The 160GB model will now be sold for $250 in the US, 250 euros in European territories, and ¥24,980 in Japan. This new pricing is made effective immediately for all countries except for the markets of Japan, where the price drop will start on Aug.18.

The PS3’s 320GB system will also be receiving a new price point. The device is now available for $300 in the US, €300 in Europe, and 29,980 yen in Japan. “In addition, a limited edition inFAMOUS 2 bundle is now available at participating retailers across North America. “The bundle retails for $299 and includes a 320 GB PlayStation 3, a copy of inFAMOUS 2 and a 30-day membership to PlayStation Plus,” Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, wrote on a blog.
