GADG listed five of the good-to-know things about Microsoft's much-anticipated OS -- the Windows 8.

Windows 8, Microsoft’s upcoming installment to its family of operating systems, just had its formal debut at the BUILD conference in Anaheim, California last week. During the event, the company showed off most of the impressive features of the new OS, such as the Metro interface, support for touchscreens, a revamped speed performance and a new Windows Store for direct app downloads.

Mac App Store Releases Mac OS X Lion

Apple’s powerful OS comes with 250 new features.

Apple rolled out Mac OS® X Lion on Wednesday as download from the Mac App Store for $29.99. It is equipped with 250 new features which include Multi-Touch® gestures, Mission Control, MAC App Store built on its OS, full screen apps support, Launchpad and revamped Mail app.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing said that “Lion is the best version of OS X yet, and we’re thrilled that users around the world can download it starting today. Lion makes upgrading a Mac easier than ever before; just launch the Mac App Store, buy Lion with your iTunes account, and the download and install process will begin automatically.”

Best Buy Ceased Orders of Apple’s MacBook Air

Best Buy put a hold on MacBook Air's online orders because of Apple's plan to release a Gold Master build of Mac OS X Lion.

Best Buy ceased current-generation MacBook Air orders on their order list, following the news about Apple upgrading the diminutive laptop. Simultaneously, all MacBook Air Models on Apple’s online store remain steady for shipping.

Apple was said to be waiting for a Gold Master build of Mac OS X Lion that is due to release on July. They are also expected to upgrade the notebook with an Intel Sandy Bridge processor and a Thunderbolt port.
