And Japan goes wild with the Nintendo 3DS but 3DS games miss the mark in the sales chart.
No surprise here. With a year worth of hype, speculation, excitement and hysteria, Japan didn’t fail to please the Nintendo executives as the Nintendo 3DS console dominated the sales chart; and it only needed two days to do so. The Nintendo 3DS has sold 374,764 units throughout the week which is expected for a highly marketed and ground-breaking item.
3DS games on the other hand did well too. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to bank the 1st or even the 2nd spot as the 3DS game Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask only mustered a 3rd place finish below PSP entries Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and SD Gundam G Generation World. The Professor Layton game banked an impressive 119,591 sales, while other 3DS titles also managed to enter the Top 10 chart.

How long does it take to sell 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units in Japan? How about less than half a day?
From Shibuya to Akihabara, Japan goes crazy over the release of the Nintendo 3DS last Saturday. That’s why it’s no wonder that all 400,000 Nintendo 3DS units were immediately sold around 9:00am of the release date, where thousands of customers lined up to get their hands on the groundbreaking handheld console. People who were not so fortunate on getting their hands on the Nintendo 3DS will have another chance of getting it as Nintendo, through the word of mouth of several shops around Japan, said that they’ll be shipping more units soon.Read the rest of the article »
What better way to enjoy your brand spankin' new Nintendo 3DS than to play it with only ONE game.
And we thought 16 games aren’t enough for a console release as big as the Nintendo 3DS. Apparently, people need to appreciate what they’re gonna get, especially for those living in the US. Reports have revealed that the land down under, Australia will only have ONE, you heard that right, ONE single 3DS game available once the Nintendo 3DS goes into full swing there on March 31. And of all the games that could’ve been the one to baptized the sweet Nintendo 3DS, it had to be Nintendogs + cats (although we bet some people would be fluttering about in excitement with this… anyone?.Read the rest of the article »
You won't be able to catch 'em all in 3D as game director reveals Pokémon Black/White will have nothing special in Nintendo 3DS.
Although we’re pretty psyched with Pokémon Black/White coming to the Nintendo 3DS, game director Junichi Masuda spoiled the party by announcing that the game isn’t going to have any special Nintendo 3DS specific features. Which means it will just be plainly like any other Nintendo DS game, but it’s on Nintendo 3DS.
Masuda shared over an interview at Nintendo’s office in Redwood city: “Other than just being able to play the game normally, there’s nothing special if you use a 3DS.” Sorry Nintendo 3DS and Pokémon Black/White fans, better move on to the next games like Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Kid Icarus: Uprising. You’ll still be able to catch those Pokémons though, just not in 3D or in any other flashy manner.View Article Source »

Things are starting to heat up as Nvidia might catapult the mobile and tablet device market into the third dimension.
Reports have leaked a snapshot from Nvidia’s presentation for the Mobile World Congress or MWC. And if the rumors and the picture is for real, then it seems Nvidia will be launching Tegra 2 3D processor later this year for future mobile gadgets that will be having, you guessed it, a 3D screen. Based on a Dual Cortex A9 that’s generously clocked to 1.2 GHz, the Tegra 2 3D processor seems to be up to the challenge of setting the trend for future mobile and tablet devices, which may spell trouble to the Nintendo 3DS, Intel and perhaps even the juggernaut we call Apple.Read the rest of the article »
