Finally! Google has released its own Google Wallet mobile payment system on Sprint Nexus S 4G smartphones.

Google Wallet, a payment system which allows users to swipe their phones to pay for products, officially went active last Monday. The service initially works for Citi MasterCards and the virtual Google Prepaid Card only, but will now be open to rival cards. Other credit cards, such as American Express, Discover, and Visa, are also releasing their NFC features in order to let banks add them to the new mobile payment system.

However, although any store with MasterCard’s PayPass will be a good choice, Google Wallet will only be available on its first smartphone – the Samsung Nexus S – which is offered on Sprint Nextel. Users would need to have the said handset along with Android 2.3.4 and over-the-air update in order to access the Wallet.
