Apple’s iPad Sales, Beating Down PCs

Written on July 20, 2011 by Lulu

Apple declared that there's an equilibrium on supply and demand in the iPad market, as its sales are beating out the new PCs' sales.

Apple declared on their third quarter result call that almost all of the region – where they ship their iPad – are finally achieving a “balance” between the supply and demand in the market. The company sold as many tablets as it could be throughout the quarter, due to the shrinking of US shipping times to one to three days.

Apple currently has almost three weeks of iPad shipping schedule in their inventory. The company emphasized that the third quarter iPad sales were so high, it would beat out sales of new PCs. The said company also added that enterprise adoption has taken off in defiance of usual conservatism with new products. That said, 86% of the Fortune 500 and 47% of the Global 500 are occupied to be testing or deploying iPads. Even several major clients are rolling out custom apps including GE, Boston Scientific, Cedar Sinai Hospital, Standard Charter and Salesforce. Alaska Airlines and American Airlines also use iPads in cockpits. This performance has carried out to the educational realm as well, where Apple says it sold more iPad to K-12 schools than Macs in just a period of five quarters.

Apple mentioned that the production of iPad is still on-going. The production increased by 4.5 million units in the third quarter of this year alone, and a large boost is predicted to come in the near future.
