Apple-rejected Panels, Used For iPad Clones

According to a report, panels that didn't meet Apple's requirements are being used to develop iPad clones by several Chinese manufacturer.

Based on a report from DigiTimes’ sources, rejected 9.7-inch IPS panels that didn’t meet Apple’s stringent requirements for developing the iPad 2 are being sold to China-based vendors. Sources pointed out that two main suppliers of the panels – LG Display and Samsung Electronics – shipped an estimated 12-15 million 9.7-inch IPS panels in the second quarter, while 7-9 million iPad 2s are projected to ship in the said timeframe.

Apple still have a long way to tap in the full potential of the tablet market in China, even though iPad has seen significant demand in the world’s most populated nation.
