With a few relevant changes and upgrades, it might just be the multimedia experience we've been hoping.

What’s in store for us on the new Ubuntu 10.10 a.k.a Maverick Meerkat? Aside from the application updates, there will be a new photo manager, improved multimedia controls and better than any Ubuntu.
These changes were listed on the beta page. One striking change is the dropbox-like syncing service tied up to the Music Store purchases, personal files, settings and user data.

Shotwell has replaced the Fspot as the default photo manager, not exactly Picasa for Linux, but ahead atleast.

The volume control panel, now has music player controls and Rhythmbox and all the default applications have seen their regular version updates and bug fixes.

As usual, the Ubuntu 10.10 Beta is free and will be installed in most systems.
