Sony recently unveiled the "world's lightest 13-inch standard voltage PC" in the US. Make way for the VAIO Z series!

Last Wednesday, Sony finally unveiled its VAIO Z series in the US. The “world’s lightest 13-inch standard voltage PC” is just 0.66 inches thick and weighs 2.5 pounds. Originally announced at the end of June, the Sony VAIO Z series also features a monolithic Power Media Dock. It connects to the laptop via Thunderbolt, and boost the laptop’s graphical prowess. It also provides Blu-ray or DVD SuperMulti optical drive, three USB ports, and supports up to four HD displays with the help of HDMI or VGA ports.

Sony VAIO Z Laptop, Revealed in Europe

After leaked images of VAIO Z laptop spread on the Internet, Sony officially showed their new ultra-thin laptop to the European press group.

Sony officially unleashed their new VAIO Z to the European press yesterday.

However, VAIO Z features only Intel’s HD Graphic 3000 onboard while it surpasses other ultralight devices with its Power Media Dock. This contributes to the power of an AMD Radeon 6650M GPU – with 1GB of memory connected through a Light Peak – when more polygons must be pushed. Its dock also supports one USB 3.0 hookup and it also included USB, VGA and HDMI ports. The Sony VAIO Z has a slot for either a DVD or Blue-ray drives as well.
