Skype Rolls Out Video Calls for Selected Android Devices

Skype is giving out an updated version of its voice call app, as more Android devices acquires front-facing camera and Android 2.3.

Skype released an update of its Android app, which brings video calls to limited Android devices. The Skype video calls for Android will be available for Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro. But expect the list of compatible device to grow longer, as more smartphones are having front-facing camera and being updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Skype is following other companies, like Netflix and Hulu, in making previously unavailable apps accessible to limited devices. Check out the video after the break, to learn more about Skype’s new version of video calls for Android.

Fring Brings In Tablet-optimised Four-way Video app for iPad 2

Move and give way, FaceTime! The tablet-optimized four-way video app from Fring is coming to Apple's iPad 2.

Famous instant messaging and video VoIP service, Fring, recently released a tablet-optimized app for the iPad 2. The Fring app enables users to make four-way video calls to other subscribers, and works with 3G. That said, there’ll be little need for Apple’s WiFi and iOS only FaceTime application.

The Fring app for iPad 2 is now available for download at the App Store — free of charge. Fring is also set to unveil an inter-platform calling app for Android sometime in the future.
