Despite its fairly new offering, Blizzard is seeing a decrease in subscribers for World of Warcraft.
During their latest earnings announcement, Blizzard claimed that their World of Warcraft subscribers where down again. Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard, informed investors that the game is still seeing number of subscribers that are correlated with the release of updates and expansions.
Blizzard recently announced as well that players can play WoW until level 20 without charge. However, this offering is not seeing an increase in subscribers yet. Still, the firm is gearing up for a serious competition with Bioware, as the latter gets ready for the holiday launch of Old Republic.Read the rest of the article »

Prepare for some BlizzCon 2011 madness, as GADG presents its predictions on what we'll see on this year's edition of the convention.
BlizzCon 2011 has always been the show stealer when it comes to yearly gaming conventions, and this year will most likely be the same as Blizzard is touted to give a stellar show line-up — including the much anticipated reveal on Diablo III’s release date.
Last year’s BlizzCon showcased the herald of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and a couple of sweet details on StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. With Diablo III still having little to no clues as to when it will come out, plus few and far in between in-game details about the RPG, many are speculating that Blizzard will go all out with the sequel of the Diablo franchise and the game will take center stage this BlizzCon 2011 when the convention kicks in October 21.Read the rest of the article »

It's a question almost as old as the game itself, but we're gonna answer it anyways!
World of Warcraft is once again at the helm in the world of MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game), though we think it never left the seat in the first place. After two months of release of it’s latest expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, more and more people start joining the bandwagon as reports state the game has already reached 12 million subscribers.
Yes, we are aware that the question has been asked since forever, but its relevance never dies especially to non-WoW players and non-Blizzard developers out there: “What makes World of Warcraft so popular?” Despite the game having a monthly fee, not so amazing graphics plus the plethora of available and FREE MMORPGs around there, what does World of Warcraft have that makes the players keep playing even after 6 freakin’ years of existence?Read the rest of the article »
It's time to even the playing field as Blizzard convinces PayPal to suspend accounts using the service to illegally sell virtual currency.
Want an easier way of getting the best goods in the MMORPG World of Warcraft? Then better count gold buying out of the equation as Blizzard convinced PayPal to suspend accounts that are using the service to illicitly sell World of Warcraft gold currency. Blizzard has appealed that such an act is in violation of their intellectual properties and swift action must be taken.
PayPal on the other hand seems to be cool about the subject matter as they’ve given the gold sellers time to appeal for their case. If not convinced, PaypPal will suspend their accounts with no remorse unless they stopped doing such illegal transactions. Read PayPal’s full statement after the break!Read the rest of the article »
What happens when you bring a StarCraft fan and a Galaxy Editor together? Well to some, nothing. But to imaginative individuals, it's World of StarCraft.
World of StarCraft? For too long we’ve been dreaming of an MMORPG/World of Warcraft version of StarCraft, but a band of brave individuals out there said “screw dreams” as they pushed the boundaries of fan speculation and imagination by using StarCraft II’s Galaxy Editor to concoct a spin-off unlike any other. Welcome to ‘World of StarCraft’ (note: Blizzard has no part in creating the ‘game’ as it was just created for fun by programming geniuses).
The game looks (in a good sense) horrifyingly real as a Marine-like toon trek the trecherous terrain and go trigger-happy against some Protoss units. Although barely reaching the level of fun and playable by MMORPG standards, ‘World of Starcraft’ remains as an eye-candy to fans and haters alike. We doubt that this would scale up as a game that’s available worldwide. The development team is currently brainstorming on their future plans on the mod and are open to public suggestions through their forums.

Ironically, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm doesn't give Blizzard any reason to end the game soon.
It already holds the record thanks to a whopping 3.3 million sold copies on its opening day, but now World of Warcraft: Cataclysm just cemented its place in the charts. With more than 4.7 million copies sold in a month’s time, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is now crowned as the world’s fastest selling PC game of all time.
Despite the game being almost a decade old, the leading MMORPG still has some zing in its lifeline as the latest expansion drew massive crowds as devoted, returning, and new fans alike lined up or scoured the internet to purchase and download this epic game. Hit the break and watch a video on World of Warcraft: Cataclysm’s Midnight Launch event to see how massive the game has become!Read the rest of the article »
