If only Sony didn't scrapped the idea, users would have been indulging themselves on transforming their consoles to mobile phone by now.
Sony’s Xperia Play boasts touchscreen and cellular antennas. But no one knows that the company also planned to add these features on the PSP — the same time they were working on the console’s camera accessory and GSP receivers.
Based on the diagram of a filed patent application, Sony Computer Entertainment details a touchscreen panel accessory. Users would plug the device in PSP’s USB port and flip the touchscreen on top of it. There is also a stylus that could be used to give on-screen keyboard input or play games.

Experience convenient gaming with Sony Xperia Play even when you receive a call.
The Sony Xperia Play, aka the PlayStation Phone, has got the right stuff to deliver some sweet PS gaming under the comfort of a phone. But have you ever wondered what will happen if you receive a call while you’re playing a game on it?
Basically the game will cut out as the Xperia enters into phone mode. After taking care of business or just cancelling the phone call, the phone goes back to the game screen and a “continue” button will appear. This means the Xperia will pause the game once you grab a call, and you can conveniently play the game right where you left it.

Google switches God-mode on and removes popular PSOne emulator, PSX4Droid from the Android App Market.
With Sony Ericsson’s PlayStation Phone – the Sony Xperia Play – brewing around the corner (or that’s what we would love to believe), Google just turned God-mode as it abruptly pulls the plug on the popular PSOne emulator for the Android OS, the PSX4Droid. The app has been removed from the Android Market without giving any prior notification to its developer, “zodttd.”
Could the perpetrator behind this fiasco truly be the Sony Xperia Play? Or is it another push from Google after several complaints about their copyright policies? Perhaps both.Read the rest of the article »
Sony is pulling out all the stops as they deliver a striking, terrifying ad that the smartphone world has NEVER done, and perhaps will never do.
Only Sony can think about doing a smartphone commercial with this degree of horrifying imagery. Many were already appaled by the first commercial where we saw the green we-thought-it-was-cute Android bot with human fingers crudely stitched to its hands, and now we come across with the backstory of where the thumbs came from. In a nutshell, a guy was clubbing on a bar, got hooked up with a girl and the next thing he knows is that his thumbs are gone and is now reporting on some South East Asian police joint. This advertising masterpiece has an editorial feel to it and apparently talks to guys (or girls) that want serious fun on their smartphones. It doesn’t exactly speak Google, it’s all Sony. And we love it!
